Our Mission...

MCADSV is a statewide membership organization whose members represent a network of over 70 domestic and sexual violence programs and over 200 allied organizations and individuals.  We have provided leadership as the statewide voice for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and the programs that serve them since 1978.

MCADSV is dedicated to the empowerment of all the state's survivors of domestic and sexual violence.  Our mission is to develop and promote efforts aimed at the elimination of all domestic and sexual violence in Michigan.

Our Goals...

Ending domestic and sexual violence against all survivors requires social change that promotes equality through individual, institutional and cultural changes.  To this end MCADSV will:

  • Provide statewide leadership on public policy issues affecting survivors and the programs that serve them.
  • Advocate for the availability and accessibility of high quality, culturally competent services.
  • Strengthen service provider programs.
  • Be accountable to survivors.
  • Encourage the leadership of women.

Program Activities...

MCADSV program activities include providing leadership, technical assistance, training and resources throughout Michigan to benefit domestic and sexual violence survivors.  These activities include:

  • Providing comprehensive issue-based training and technical assistance to advocates, allied professionals and local and state organizations to improve the delivery of services to domestic and sexual violence survivors.

A Vision for Prevention: Key Issues and Statewide Recommendations for the Primary Prevention of Violence Against Women in Michigan
Although great strides have been made to improve the response to violence against women in Michigan, the rates of abuse experienced by women and their children remain quite high.  In response to this, a statewide planning group has developed recommendations for the primary prevention of violence against women in Michigan.  Download a complete copy of the report here.
